Over a decade ago, I stepped away from my first corporate job in the insurance world, craving something fresh, exciting—and completely different. As fate would have it, a family friend offered me the chance to sell jewellery along the idyllic shores of Sardinia, Italy. What I thought would be a fun summer detour turned out to be the spark that lit a creative fire.

I quickly realised there was a strong appetite for handcrafted, coastal-inspired jewellery in the Mediterranean. That insight followed me home.

Back in Durban, I began experimenting—playing with materials, sketching designs, and slowly shaping a new dream. I teamed up with a small group of skilled local artisans, and before long, my designs were being sold by traders along the Mozambican coastline.
What began as a holiday hustle has since grown into something far bigger.

By 2020, Palm Strings Jewellery had found its way into over 80 stores across South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius, and Seychelles.

Today, our jewellery is sold around the world both in store and online.
